Basic Elements of the activity

  1. Create cultural awareness among participants. For this reason, before every session, morning, and afternoon, we will do energizers in a fun and creative way to involve participants, as well as some team building activities. Also, cultural nights will be organized in order that all the participants will present their cultures and traditions.
  2. All sessions will be devoted to products: coffee, cotton, chocolate. The products are used as a starting point for exploring global realities and global interdependencies. All activities address at least one of the following crosscutting global education themes: sustainable development, rights, diversity, health and lifestyle choices, social justice and equity, globalization and interdependence.
  3. We will use simulation games because stimulating active involvement is very important for a change of values and attitudes. Activities may be designed by participants, for a group of young people and for the local community, based upon an assessment of their realities and needs. Participants may try to propose solutions or even undertake collective action to promote transformation in their environment, at a micro level.
  4. The other is method used is ART. This collective educational experience leads participants to another kind of self-improvement by promoting principles creating a common, secure space of physical and mental comfort. In this space, educators and learners will work together in a partnership based on respect and equality. This kind of artistic-formative ENactivity comes as an answer to group needs, previously identified and established before through specific procedures. Relating to the educational goal, in participative arts, the process is as important as the final result (performance, happening, graffiti, social theatre, etc.).PA methods will dissolve any inhibitions and replace them with satisfaction about affirming possibilities/personality and personal achievements.
  5. Interdisciplinary approach: The project is going to be developed through any subject of the curricula, formal or non-formal. Connecting specific to general knowledge and linking different data coming from various sciences permits a multiperspective approach, which is needed to perceive knowledge as a united system and so to understand yourself and others in a complex, interdependent world, where the realities of our lives can be complementary but also contradictory.
  6. Dialogue-based learning. Dialogue creates oral interactions between participants that seeks to stimulate the exchange of ideas. It works as a bridge between people and creates a friendly space for developing thoughts, reflections and proposals even if they are opposed or different. Dialogue helps develop communication and listening skills, so it promotes understanding of different issues and points of view. It is one of the most important methods in global education.
  7. Provide the relevant knowledge and involve participants in activities that will enable them to criticize and attempt to eliminate any form of discrimination. Every activity includes reflection time at the end where ways of fighting discrimination, innovative ideas, self-improvement, and learning outcomes will be discussed. Also in the activity: "Take a Step Forward" Moreover, during the YE, we will encourage our participants to share their ideas during the reflection time. Each day we will have reflection time, the revision of what we have done during the day. Youth Exchange will be at Hylatio tourist village in Pissouri where we will make an activity room for all these activities and also we are going to use outside places (which there are a lot) for the activities.

Elements of the Activity

We will try to connect the specific issues and themes of the activity with the elements and the working methods (also the sessions of the program) that we will work in the training so as to be able to define the better results in answering the question. We will work on all specific issues of our activities in the Non Formal Education method as we describe below. In the following lines we are going to describe the elements that we are going to use.
