REPORT OF SPANISH TEAM

FAIR TRADE and RESPONSIBLE CONSUMERS (FTRC) KA 152YOU

Youth Exchange (15 to 20 years old)

At the moment of the approval of the project Egeria Desarrollo Social decided to make a different impact with this project, and include participants with much fewer opportunities. This project was organized in partnership with the NGO https://cnmalaga.es 

This organization works as a shelter for children and youth with family and social problems which their partners cannot take care of. We had an organizational meeting and we decided most of them will be unaccompanied immigrant minors mainly from Morocco. I know that will be a challenge but also we thought it was a great opportunity to include participants with fewer opportunities. We decided the group will travel with the Coordinator of the Center and also the Director of Egeria Desarrollo social they will work together.

The participants created logos to participated in the logo contest, and they visited LIDL to checked the fair trade product in that supermaket. They participated in a group meeting in Egeria Desarrollo Social office where they were informed about he erasmus+ program, their responsibilities and they also prepared the international night.

Participation in the Youth Exchange

I knew it was a challenge this project, but all the participants did their best, to participate, to get involved and to integrate in the group, they faced a big langue barrier to together with the support of the whole team (coordination organization, facilitator and other partners organization), they felt part of the group and they learnt a lot from this experience. The impact of this project in this group will be difficult to measure, for them it was their first time in a plane, traveling outside Spain or in an international environment, so this is the main learning outcome, the feeling that they also can be part of the Erasmus+ program.

Dissemination meeting

On 19th of December Egeria Desarrollo Social organized a dissemination event in our office to share the experience of several projects organized during 2023, FTRC was one of them, and some of the participants came to share their experience.

In my case, after participating in my Erasmus+ project this was a great learning experience, I've improved my youth work skills and also my leadership skills. The place where it took place was great as well as the logistics arrangement, all the facilitators did a great job and we are so thankful to all their efforts. It was a great learning experience also about the Topic of fair trade as I learned new methodologies and workshops to apply in my daily job with young people.

I really liked visiting Cyprus, getting to know its people, its dances and its nature. We had a great time, the food was very good, and the activities were very fun. I would like to go back. I have learned a lot of English and also about responsible consumption.

It is the first time that I have had the opportunity to travel, meet new friends and learn english. I had a lot of fun in Cyprus. The hotel was amazing, and activities also. We ate well, slept well and we spent ten days playing together with nice people.

It's been a special project for me. It was not only an amazing place where we were hosted, it was the people, the atmosphere and the empathy they show to us. Leaders and young people understood the background of the spain group, and they helped us to make it easier. I've improved my social skills, and also I can be more fluent in English, although the most important is what we learnt about Fair Trade; how to become more friendly to human rights and equality when we get food or clothes. I'm very grateful to everyone who has participated, and happy after the experience we had. Thanks a lot!
