Why we are implementing this project?

Our project is created to carry out non formal global education that opens people's eyes and minds to the realities of the globalized world and awakens them to bring about a world of greater justice, equity and Human Rights for all. Global education is understood to encompass Development Education, Human Rights Education, Education for Sustainability, Education for Peace and Conflict Prevention and Intercultural Education; being the global dimension of Education for Citizenship. Globalization and its effects are developing much faster than the awareness about them. Sensitizing European citizens on their role in the new interdependent and interconnected world takes much too long. The process must be speeded up by organizations, youth workers who can reach the citizens on a local level, build critical understanding and mobilize support. We want to raise awareness and strengthen young people' capacity to take action, advocate for their rights and take part in the political debate at local, national and international level for social justice and sustainable development. Our project encourages learners and educators to work cooperatively on global issues and it enables citizens to understand the complex realities and processes of today's world and to develop values, attitudes, knowledge and skills, which will allow them to face the challenges of an interconnected world.

Our project is created to build a society of young people with responsible consumers. According to Aydın and Ünal (2015), consumer lifestyle has an effect not only on information about the environment or attitudes towards the environment but also on responsible consumption. Consumers can play an important role by adopting such lifestyles, when aiming for adequacy, voluntary simplicity, sustainable consumption or other ways could become a part of the "green economy" (Binder and Blankenberg, 2017).

We plan to draw the attention of young people on Fairtrade which is one of the largest and most diverse global movements for change, working with 1.9 million farmers and workers, as well as a global grassroots supporter base of more than 2000 Fair Trade Towns in 28 countries, and countless schools, universities and faith groups.

Fairtrade brings together millions of consumers who are committed to buying sustainably. There are over 2000 Fair Trade Towns in more than 30 countries, including in the south, as well as countless schools, universities and faith groups all campaigning for fairer trade.

Our project is going to introduce to the youth Fairtrade's vision in which all producers can enjoy secure and sustainable livelihoods, fulfill their potential and decide on their future, respecting human rights, environment. In the project concerning global education we want to introduce global perspectives into young people's local contexts; increase the capacity of youth, introduce global perspectives into young people's local contexts; increase the capacity of youth workers in facilitating attitudinal change of young people towards a globalized society; provide practical tools and methodologies aimed at supporting young people to become responsible global citizens by developing entrepreneurship to meet the challenges of the world. The toolkit is specifically developed for non-formal youth settings. It can be used by youth workers, youth leaders, trainers or facilitators to raise awareness of global issues among young people, connecting them to communities across the world.

Our goal is to make people and especially the young generations more sensitive and active in the world's problems, and on the other hand enhance their creativity, improve their skills and promote entrepreneurship that could potentially help them to find job or establish their own eco-friendly business.
